UFO Guitarist Signs Solo Deal With MASCOT RECORDS
September 23, 2008UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore has inked a deal with Holland's Mascot Records for the worldwide release of his upcoming solo album, tentatively due in early 2009.
XM's Boneyard host Eddie Trunk, who has a long-running radio show, "Friday Night Rocks", on New York's Q104.3 FM, conducted an interview with Vinnie Moore at this year's Rocklahoma festival, which was held July 9-13, 2008 in Pryor, Oklahoma. Watch the clip below.
In a 2007 interview with Get Ready To Roll!, Vinnie Moore stated about his upcoming solo CD, "The album has 11 songs and is being mixed right now by Paul Northfield who also did the latest DREAM THEATER CD as well as many RUSH records such as 'Moving Pictures'. Van Romaine (of the STEVE MORSE BAND) played drums and JD DeServio (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY) played bass. Tim Lehner (ZEROESQUE) did the keyboards and I even have a guest named Hurricane Hank from the GEORGE THOROGOOD band playing sax on one tune. I think this is my best creative effort yet. It has taken a while because I have been on the road so much and I can't wait to get it out there for people to hear."
EMI recently reissued UFO's first three Chrysalis albums — "Phenomenon", "No Heavy Petting" and "Force It" — featuring a number of bonus tracks.
UFO's latest CD, "The Monkey Puzzle", came out in September 2006 via SPV Records. The follow-up to 2004's "You Are Here" was recorded at Area 51 Studios with producer Tommy Newton, who also worked with the band on their prior album and who recorded the material for the band's "Showtime" live CD.
